Substance Abuse Strains The Healthcare SystemSubstance abuse strains the nation's healthcare system, adding billions to the cost of treating a host of illnesses related to drinking, smoking and illicit drug use. When used for long periods of time, tobacco, alcohol and illicit drugs can impair most major organ systems. In any given year, a smoker uses more medical care than a person who has never smoked; when a heavy smoker enters the hospital, they stay 25 percent longer than do non-smokers.
Drug and alcohol rehab centers should offer a variety of treatment programs that can meet individual needs and offer sustained help. Programs may include inpatient, residential, outpatient, and/or short-stay options. While alcohol and drug addiction progress through predictable stages, each individual’s experience has quite personal and unique characteristics. It takes a trained professional, either a physician or therapist specializing in addictions, to make an accurate diagnosis and prescribe the most appropriate treatment program.

Twelve Oaks Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center
Twelve Oaks is a free-standing alcohol and drug treatment center located in the Florida panhandle. The five-acre campus borders a sandy beach and provides a serene setting. We incorporate a multi-disciplinry approach, and individual treatment plans are designed based on the specific needs of each patient.
Wilmington Treatment Center offers excellent treatment to those abusing or addicted to alcohol and other drugs. We begin our program (if needed) with a medically supervised (24 hours a day) detoxification. Our programming includes, inpatient (rehab), partial (day treatment) and intensive outpatient programming. Our clinical program is comprised of 8 certified counselors, many Masters Level. We provide up to 28 days of treatment but can customize a program for you.
Bowling Green Brandywine is an 89-bed inpatient treatment facility located in historic Chester County in southeastern part of the state at Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
